Dry

Hello, its me Matt yet again, I have another book by Augusten Burroughs to recommend to people. It is called Dry which is another Memoir about his chaotic life. In this book we find out although adult Burroughs is doing well professionally, earning a handsome living as an ad writer for a top New York agency, Burroughs's personal life is a disaster. His apartment is filthy and is a sea of empty bottles of alcohol, he stays out all night boozing, and he fervently tries to mask the stench of alcohol on his breath at work. Then Burroughs is confronted by his employer and insists that he seek help, Burroughs then flies out to Minnesota for detoxification, and counseling, and through rehab Burroughs tells quite funny anecdotes of his experiences while in rehab. But after a month of treatment he goes back to Manhattan, sober. The rest of the book is full of Burroughs quest to remain sober, and to have his social life to fit his new sober life through his group therapy, his relation ship with a cocaine addict, and the chaos that surrounds his life. I recommend this book to mature readers as I have with the Running with Scissors as most parts of the book are X-rated. But ultimately Dry is a terrific read, and is a brilliantly written memoir with a great sense of humor.
