Hi it’s me Matt again, I want tell people about another book I read called What is the What. What is the What by Dave Eggers is about Valentino Achak Deng, a real live person who was a refugee from the Sudanese civil war (before the current Darfur conflict) of the 1980s and 90s. In this fictionalized memoir, Eggers tells how Separated from his family when Arab militia destroy his village, Valentino joins thousands of other "Lost Boys," who are against starvation, thirst and man-eating lions on their march to refugee camps in Ethiopia and Kenya, where Valentino begins to start his new life. Valentino eventually reaches America, but recalls his troubles in America while simultaneously telling his story to the people who cause him trouble and to the reader. I highly recommend this book to all as it portrays the story of the "Lost Boys" of Sudan excellently, is written very well, but also tells this excellent story of Valentino's search for home and of self in a world of unending upheaval.
